Paul commenced his career in tax with the Inland Revenue before joining the profession a little over 20 years ago “Gamekeeper turned Poacher”. He has considerable experience in all aspects of owner managed businesses, specialising in private client capital tax planning, strategic business advice and leads tax consultancy assignments.

Paul’s role as a partner of SGD is managing all practical aspects of the practice, as well as providing strategic leadership in order to take the business forward on the strongest possible basis for both clients and employees alike.

Married to Sharon with two ‘expensive’ young daughters, Paul’s interests include anything in the ‘great outdoors’ including skiing, mountaineering, kayaking and anything that involves water and speed.

Bryan is a Chartered Tax Adviser who commenced his career with the Inland Revenue and later joined the profession. His wide ranging experience, accumulated over 30 years in the profession, has enabled him to develop significant expertise particularly in the area of owner managed businesses.

As a partner in SGD, Bryan’s primary role is the management of a broadly based client portfolio, as well as maintaining an overview of technical tax issues. He has particular expertise in reconciling the aspirations of businesses and their owner managers.

Married to Judy with two adult children, Bryan enjoys a variety of interests in life outside work, including travel, caravanning, current affairs, spending time with friends and family, and generally trying to keep fit, as well as attempting to play golf -a skill which he has yet to master! He is also a member of a thriving local community church where he is a consultant to the finance team.

Paul is a Chartered Accountant, having qualified with a major firm. He has substantial experience in all aspects of audit and compliance, including charitable and other not for profit organisations.

Paul's role as a Principal of SGD is to oversee all assurance and accounting matters and the provision of general advice to owner managed businesses.

Married to Sarah, Paul is an avid follower of Leicester Tigers and enjoys walking.

David Burton

David is a Chartered Accountant,with forty years professional experience. He has a significant understanding of all aspects of Corporate Finance.

Whilst carrying out consultancy assignments David's role as a Principal of SGD is non executive.

David is Chairman of the Confederation of West Midlands Chambers of Commerce, a governor of Coventry University and is much involved in international trade matters.

Married to Lesley with four adult children David's interests include Rotary and Golf.

David is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor who trained and qualified at KPMG. Having been in the profession for 19 years David has built up a wide range of experience in dealing with all aspects of accounting and taxation affecting owner managers. David was the partner in charge of the West Midlands Entrepreneurial and Private Company Tax Department of a big four accountancy firm.

David’s role is to lead on Entrepreneurial Tax Planning and Consultancy assignments and he has experience of managing MBO, MBI and Private Equity investment transactions.

David was until recently Secretary of the West Midlands Branch of the CIOT and has previously sat on the Tax Technical Committee of the Midlands Branch of the ICAEW.

Married to Andrea with two girls, David is a keen sportsman enjoying Golf, Squash, Football and Swimming.
