Each year the employees at SGD vote to support two local charities who can benefit from our various fundraising activities.
On 30th June 2018 we said goodbye to Coventry and Warwickshire Mind and the Air Ambulance Service. We certainly left with a bang, raising over £7,000 in our Walk with SGD event which saw Team SGD together with family and friends walk 640 miles in scorching heat around Draycote Water. In this past year we have also held an Easter Egg-stravaganza with egg decorating competitions, Easter hampers and pin the tail on the bunny. We held regular dress-down days on the last Friday of each month and we also had volunteers walking in the cold and rain to collect money during Santa’s Sleigh Ride in Stivichale.
Our grand total raised for the year was £9,500, which is a fantastic £4,750 for each charity. Coventry and Warwickshire Mind and the Air Ambulance Service, you both do amazing things for our local community, we thank you for your service and we hope that our fundraising has helped towards your wonderful work.
Whilst we say goodbye to two magnificent charities, we say hello to two brand new ones. For our charity year 2018/2019 we will be raising funds for Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice and the Edwards Trust. Both of which provide valuable services to the West Midlands.
Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice
Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice is the only baby hospice in the West Midlands. They provide palliative, respite and end of life care to babies and infants aged from birth to 5 years suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. They open 7 days a week and have the capacity for 6 cots, however due to lack of funds they can only currently operate 4. They need the support from the residents of Coventry and Warwickshire to help raise money in order to be able to help the families who are in desperate need of their services.
The Edwards Trust
The Edward’s Trust provides holistic family bereavement services supporting children, young people and parents across the West Midlands. They offer counselling, wellbeing therapies, support groups, social activities, respite retreats, pre-bereavement support and remembrance services for those who have lost a child or for a child who has lost a close family member. They give hope to those in their darkest hour and help them to see a future.
SGD looks forward to working with these brilliant charities and raising lots of money to aid their invaluable work in our community. Watch our social media feeds for information about our upcoming fundraising events.
